On Monday night, Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson tweeted, “I’m done with football as a Titan… No further comments.” Wilson left the tweet up for several minutes before deleting it.
Wilson, 22, was selected by the Titans with the 29th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. And less than a year later, the first-round pick looks like a total disaster for Tennessee.
The University of Georgia product only played in four snaps for the Titans in 2020, and he’s been involved in several off-the-field incidents. He was arrested for DUI in September, and he was suspended by the Titans for violating club rules in December before being placed on the reserve/non-football illness list for “personal issues” just days later. He also had two stints on the reserve/COVID list. And in August, he had an incident at Tennessee State in which he allegedly considered jumping off a second-story balcony after police broke up a party; he received a trespassing warning.
So, it’s been a lot of trouble, and zero football production. While it would be an unusually early exit for a first-round pick, it may be better for both sides if they choose to part ways.
