Henry Ruggs III has officially entered a plea in a DUI case that took the life of a young woman and her dog in 2021.
On Wednesday, the ex-Las Vegas Raiders player pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence at speeds up to 156 mph on a Las Vegas city street before causing a deadly crash that took the life of 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog.
When asked how he would plead on Wednesday, Ruggs replied, “Guilty.”
This decision comes just a week after Ruggs unconditionally waived his right to a preliminary hearing earlier this month. Ruggs has already pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol, one count of DUI resulting in death, and one count of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
According to the Associated Press, Ruggs agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors and is expected to be sentenced to three to 10 years in state prison. Ruggs has already spent a year and a half on house arrest, but under the terms of his deal, that can not count toward time served. So, at minimum, he will have to spend three years in a state prison. The former NFL star won’t see the field soon after this.
According to the AP, Ruggs and his attorneys, he declined to comment after a brief court appearance on Wednesday.
