The New York Giants were able to come away with a much-needed comeback victory in Week 2, erasing a 21-point deficit to beat the Arizona Cardinals. However, the win did not come without a cost, as star running back Saquon Barkley suffered an injury that will force him to miss multiple games.
Barkley left Sunday’s game near the end of the fourth quarter, needing the Giants training staff to walk off the field as he was barely able to put any weight on his ankle.
It didn’t look good, leaving many fans worried about his status for the foreseeable future.
The full diagnosis for Barkley has officially been revealed, and it isn’t a great one for Giants fans going to see him on the field right away.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Barkley has been diagnosed with an “ordinary” ankle sprain, and he is expected to be sidelined for at least the next three games.
Fans took notice of this report from Schefter and are saddened to hear that Barkley is indeed going to be sidelined for the next couple of weeks.
There is a very clear silver lining with this report. It’s obviously not good that he will be forced to miss multiple games. But at least it seems like he will have no problem getting back on the field at some point this season.
If Barkley does indeed miss the next three games, it will be very unfortunate for the Giants as they are facing some tough competition in those games. The Giants are set to face off against two undefeated teams in those three games, including the San Francisco 49ers and the Miami Dolphins.
