The New York Giants pulled off a huge coup on Tuesday in landing Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller.

The Giants orchestrated a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for the star tight end. New York sent a third-round pick, pick No. 100 overall in the 2023 draft, back to Vegas.

The trade was reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, among others.

New York beefs up their offense by acquiring Waller. Daniel Jones and the Giant offense found form at times but weren’t all the way there. They needed more impact players to keep up with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. Now, Joe Schoen and the team can say they’ve made headway on that.

The NFL world buzzed about the blockbuster trade.

Complex Sports posted a meme of how Raiders fans might be feeling.

Bobby Skinner of Talkin’ Giants claimed the dead had “literally no downside.”

Giants reporter Jordan Ranaan fawned over the move, calling it “the kind of creative move that Joe Schoen needed to find in order to upgrade the weapons for Daniel Jones.”

Talkin’ Giants was very happy about the move made on Tuesday.

In 74 career games in the NFL, Waller has recorded 3,572 yards on 298 receptions and scored 19 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2020 after a 107-reception, 1,196-yard season with nine touchdowns.
