The New York Giants underwent a full rebuild in their front office this offseason after letting go of head coach Joe Judge and the retirement of general manager Dave Gettleman.

They brought in head coach Brian Daboll to go along with new general manager Joe Schoen. Daboll is most notably known for his offensive expertise during his time as offensive coordinator during his time with the Buffalo Bills. One of the most important hires for Daboll this offseason would be his new defensive coordinator. Given his expertise on the offensive side of the ball, Daboll would need an equally good mind to head his defense going forward.

It appears that the team has come to a decision on who that will be. Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that the Giants will be hiring former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Wink Martindale to be their new defensive coordinator.

Here are some reactions around the NFL world on the new hiring by the Giants.

Martindale has been revered by Baltimore Ravens fans as a big part of their success over the years. They have been among the best teams in the league in defensive scoring over the past four years when Martindale has been the defensive coordinator.

It seems like the first time in a while that the Giants are headed in a positive direction and a big part of the team’s success going forward will be on Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. If Daboll’s involvement in the development of Bills quarterback Josh Allen is any indication, we could expect a big jump from Jones next season during Daboll’s watch.

Meanwhile, if Martindale can improve the Giants defense, they might actually be able to get back on track sooner than later.
