Former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is widely seen as one of the top free-agent running backs on the market right now. But after some recent comments, it seems like one team that Elliott reportedly had an interest in signing with will not be pursuing him after all.
The New York Jets were considered by many to be a contender to sign Ezekiel Elliott, who led the league in rushing in both 2016 and 2018. But when asked about the potential of adding the former Dallas Cowboys star, Jets head coach Robert Saleh did not seem interested.
“We love our running back room,” Saleh said in a video shared by Jets Videos on Twitter. “I’ll leave it at that.”
Based on that quote from Saleh, it would appear that the Jets are not exactly interested in bringing in Ezekiel Elliott.
The Jets return all three of their primary running backs from last year – Breece Hall, Michael Carter, and Zonovan Knight. However, only Carter was able to play all 16 games for the team.
Hall emerged as a legitimate starter for the Jets, averaging 5.8 yards per carry in his seven appearances. However, he was only able to play seven games for the team due to injury struggles.
