Over the past few seasons, Ezekiel Elliott has been one of the most high-profile running backs in the league since he was drafted at the top of the first round by the Dallas Cowboys back in 2016. But after parting ways with the Cowboys this offseason, he is now a free agent looking for a new team. And it sounds like he has interest from one AFC squad.
As league insider Jordan Schultz reports, Ezekiel Elliott is visiting the New England Patriots as the team looks to bolster its running back position.
“Source: 2x All-Pro RB Ezekiel Elliott is visiting the #Patriots today. This could impact the RB-needy AFC East, as well as the Dalvin Cook derby, since he and Elliott are considered the top backs available. Zeke looked terrific in the videos he posted of his workouts,” Schultz wrote in a tweet on Saturday morning.
Obviously this is big news for Elliott, the Patriots, and the rest of the NFL world. As a result, it generated quite a few reactions on social media.
We’ll have to see if this visit ultimately leads to a contract offer. If it does, it will be interesting to see what happens to the rest of the running backs market as a result.
