This weekend, New England Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott will be making his return to Dallas as the team takes on the Cowboys. And it sounds like the team might have a little something special planned to honor the running back after he spent seven seasons as one of the team’s biggest stars.
During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan this week, Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones was asked if the team had anything planned to honor Ezekiel Elliott as he returns to Dallas. Jones didn’t want to give away anything, but he certainly made it seem like the team has something special cooking.
“I don’t want to blow a surprise, and that’s a good enough answer for you,” Jones said according to Pro Football Talk.
This cryptic comment led to plenty of reactions on social media.
He also had some pretty strong words about just how good Elliott was and what he meant to the team during his time with the Cowboys.
“I know that he was one of the best teammates that I’ve had the privilege of seeing on the Cowboys,” Jones said. “For his team, he was inspirational. He was inspirational before the games, his practice habits were off the charts – he just would basically practice as though every play was for all the marbles. He had very unique skills as a running back, and boy, he could lower that pad and lower that center of gravity.”
We’ll have to wait and see how the team is planning to honor Elliott.
