As the New York Giants look to get to the playoffs for back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2007-2008, a franchise pillar has shared his thoughts on the team going into the year.
Eli Manning sat down with The Athletic earlier this week and sounded off on quarterback Daniel Jones, head coach Brian Daboll, and more.
Manning was sure to praise Jones’ work ethic, first and foremost, saying, “I think he’s worked really hard. I think he feels very comfortable in this offense and being the leader of this team and taking ownership and that responsibility. He wants to go out there and play well.”
Manning also divulged that Jones stayed at his home in the Hamptons for a couple of days in the offseason where they golfed, worked out, and threw the ball around as some local high school football players also came through.
Manning then turned his attention to head coach Brian Daboll, who Manning is a big fan of. “He can sit in the locker room and chat it up with them and have a lot of fun, yet on the field, he’s going to rip them and yell at them. He has high standards of how they should be playing. I think players appreciate that. He’s not scared to coach you up and tell you when you’re screwing up. I think it’s complete honesty at all times. ” Manning said.
The interview goes on to discuss other topics such as Aaron Rodgers joining the Jets, Darren Waller’s impact with the Giants, and more.
