Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert was hospitalized after allegedly being sucker-punched at a South Dakota restaurant on Friday night, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk and Tim McManus of ESPN.
According to Williams, Goedert was out to dinner with his family “when, unprovoked, someone punched him in the face.”
McManus reports that Goedert “has since returned home and is ‘fine,’ a source said.”
It’s unknown what, if anything, led to this situation. Goedert is from the area; he went to high school in South Dakota and played college football at South Dakota State. But even if there’s some old feud going on, a sucker-punch at a restaurant during a family dinner is quite strange.
Goedert, 25, had 58 receptions for 607 yards (10.5 avg) and five touchdowns in 2019. He was selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
