The Philadelphia Eagles have already lost a few contributors from their Super Bowl team last season. With the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants making huge splashes on Tuesday, Philly needed to answer. It was crucial for them not to get left behind. The Eagles did exactly that as they will bring back cornerback James Bradberry.
Bradberry, who signed away from the Giants in the offseason with the rival Eagles, will return to Philadelphia for three additional years. He signed a one-year “prove it” deal and then, well, he proved it.
“All-Pro CB James Bradberry is returning to the Eagles on three-year deal worth $38 million, including $20 million fully guaranteed and another $6 million in incentives, per sources. Total package is $44 million,” Schefter said.
The Eagle defense lost Javon Hargrave and T.J. Edwards to the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears earlier this week. They also might lose cornerback Darius Slay, but they will almost certainly have Bradberry there.
Bradberry clued NFL insider Josina Anderson in on why he decided to return to the Eagles.
“I went back because of the familiarity with the coaching staff, because I love the city, and playing for the Eagles,” Bradberry said in a statement.
The NFL world reacted to the huge news on Tuesday as a variety of topics had people talking on a very busy first day of free agency.
