In his seven-year career, Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott has had no shortage of big moments and big kicks.

From making a game-winning 61-yarder in just his second career game to going 3-for-3 in Philadelphia’s Super Bowl LII win over the New England Patriots to already holding the Eagles’ franchise record for most 50+ yard field goals made, Elliott always seems to rise to the moment when called upon.

Sunday’s win against the Buffalo Bills was no different.

With time winding down and the Eagles down by three, the 28-year-old kicker connected from 59 yards out (on a sloppy field) to tie the game and send it to overtime, where the Eagles would go on to win.

This was Elliott’s second-longest field goal of the season, as he had a 61-yarder (the second of his career) in Philadelphia’s week two victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

Fans had a lot to say about the kick.

As he often does when there’s a big special teams play, Pat McAfee chimed in, saying “Jake Elliott is a STONE COLD KILLER An absolute DAWWWWWG.. From the logo in a downpour/wind storm to tie it Let’s GOOOOO”

College football writer Rodger Sherman made a great point, saying, “Jake Elliott is 3-for-3 on kicks from 59+ in his career Every single kicker in the NFL from 1980 to 1990 went a combined 2-for-34”

Danny Heifetz of The Ringer put the kick into context, saying, “There have only been 13 field goals with under 5 minutes left from 59 or more yards in the 21st century. Jake Elliott’s kick to put this into overtime came in the pouring rain. One of the best kicks ever.”

Football writer Brett Kollmann said, “That kick from Jake Elliott is a top 1% all-time field goal. The difficulty level on that one is just outrageous.”
