Drew Brees didn’t begin his NFL career in New Orleans but he has definitely made the city his home. Louisiana has been one of the more harder hit states in the COVID-19 pandemic and Drew and wife Brittany are stepping up to help those around them.

On Instagram, Drew and Brittany $5 million to provide “over 10,000 meals a day throughout Louisiana.” With children being out of school and possibly without their one hot meal of the day and seniors who are at high risk for contracting COVID-19 and needing to limit going out for groceries, this will go a long way for those in need.

The Brees family is the latest in a number of people in sports who have stepped up to help the public in these trying times. While it’s not a contest, the Brees’ $5 million donation is certainly the biggest so far and will help a lot of people. And if this act of kindness inspires others to do the same with an amount they’re comfortable of giving, all the better.
