The 2024 NFL Draft will feature several quarterbacks selected in the top few picks. That much we know. We also know that USC product Caleb Williams is largely expected to be selected with the No. 1 pick, whether that be from the Chicago Bears or another team that could potentially trade up for the pick. However, there has been a ton of debate as to who will be selected with the No. 2 overall pick.
The No. 2 overall pick is held by the Washington Commanders, who are expected to be looking for a long-term quarterback solution with the highly valuable pick.
Throughout much of the pre-draft process, most draft experts saw North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye as the most likely player to go as the second quarterback off the board.
However, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has been gaining some steam amongst media members as of late to potentially jump Maye as the second quarterback off the board. Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy has also seen his stock rise as a potential top-10 pick in the draft.
Despite this, Maye remains the betting favorite to be selected at No. 2. According to Pro Football Talk, FanDuel has Maye listed as a -140 favorite to go at No. 2, with Daniels sitting at +120.
Outside of these two prospects, the odds drastically drop for the rest of the field in terms of the No. 2 pick. Caleb Williams sits at +1600 to go No. 2, followed by J.J. McCarthy at +2200, and finally Marvin Harrison Jr. at +2500.
Ultimately, it seems like a two-horse race as to who will be selected by the Commanders. And there will surely be even more shifts in the odds before the 2024 NFL Draft kicks off next month.
