The Seattle Seahawks had a dissapointing campaign following what was a breakout 2023 season from veteran quarterback Geno Smith. Now, the Seahawks are tasked with getting things back on track.
Unfortunately for Seattle, that may be a more difficult task than the Seahawks anticipated at the onset of the offseason. According to one prominent league insider, one of the Seahawks’ most crucial pieces wants out of Seattle and is seeking to play for another team.
“Seahawks WR DK Metcalf has requested a trade, per source. The request came today after a series of conversations over the past two weeks. Metcalf prefers a contender,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Has any veteran player ever said they prefer to play for a losing team? Just curious,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Elite talent tired of mediocre management. Seahawks will regret this,” another fan added.
“This on top of them releasing Lockett will make the WR room in Seattle interesting next year,” one fan added.
“The NFL WR market is about to be bananas over the next two weeks,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see where Metcalf ends up.
