It’s become clear that the Derek Carr era is over in Vegas as the Las Vegas Raiders have made it clear that they intend to trade the veteran quarterback, leading to Carr sending a heartfelt goodbye to the fanbase. But even though he appears to be leaving on relatively good terms, it sounds like there might have been some bad blood behind the scenes.
On Saturday afternoon, Derek Carr sent a cryptic tweet indicating that he was not going to “tell the whole truth” about the situation, and instead was “choosing to move on.”
“Thank you to all the people reaching out trying to give me their platform to tell my side of what happened. It’s the hardest thing in the world not to jump on every interview and tell the whole truth. Thank you but I’m choosing to move on and give our next city our best,” Derek Carr said in a tweet.
It’s certainly an interesting message to share, considering everything that’s gone on the past several weeks, and the NFL world had
“This is called maturity. Not every issue has to be resolved on this app. #CarrClass,” Colin Cowherd said in a tweet.
“First had the chance to do a long sitdown w Derek Carr his senior year at Fresno St. My instincts told me then (and they’re usually pretty solid) that he was mature beyond his years, extremely selfless, and thoughtful. Everything he’s done in his time as a pro supports that,” former ESPN/CBS reporter Bonnie Bernstein said in a tweet.
“Some people hate this (because they really don’t like DC) but this is a classy move IMO. There’s probably lots he could say that would trash the organization, but A clean cut is very respectful from him,” former WSAW reporter Brennen Scarborough said in tweet.
“I feel this whole heartedly..a lot of politicking behind the scenes in this sport we play,” former UCF and Florida State quarterback McKenzie Milton said in tweet.
It became clear that the team was moving on from Carr after he was benched late in the season, resulting in Carr leaving the team. But it looks like there was more to the story. And if Carr really feels like he was wronged, he could certainly make a move to hurt the team.
