The Dallas Cowboys are in the middle of an extremely public contract dispute between star pass rusher Micah Parsons and team owner and general manager Jerry Jones, over a contract extension that Parsons feels he deserves after his dominant play on the field.
Most people not involved in the situation have sided with Parsons and feel that Jones has acted unprofessionally throughout the process. Among those people is A-list Hollywood actor Denzel Washington.
“He ain’t thinking about us. He’s thinking about his pocket,” Washington said of Jones in an appearance on ESPN’s First Take, according to Awful Announcing. “There is box office and there is Oscars. Jerry, been a while, huh? Ain’t been to the show, you wouldn’t know. Ain’t been to the show, wouldn’t know. Haven’t been to the show, wouldn’t know what it is to win.”
Washington then went further into Jones, before pivoting to promote his upcoming movie Highest 2 Lowest, which premieres this week.
“I love the Cowboys. Because I really love them, this is why I feel the way I feel. But that’s not what I’m hear to talk about. I’m here to talk about the movie. And speaking of the movie, what does it say at the bottom of the movie?
“All money ain’t good money, Jerry. All money ain’t good money, Jerry. August 15th, we open Friday.”
It’s not hard to see why Washington and other Cowboys fans are so frustrated with what’s going on, considering Parsons has been one of the best pass rushers in the NFL for the Cowboys for years now.
It’ll be interesting to see if Parsons and Jones manage to strike a deal before the regular season starts.
