Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud is the runaway favorite to win the league’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award this season after arguably the most prolific season of any rookie quarterback ever, and it sounds like it all starts with his attitude.
Following Stroud’s dominant performance against the Cleveland Browns in the team’s playoff win over the weekend, Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans had some high praise for Stroud’s demeanor and mentality, saying the rookie quarterback has been “laser focused.”
“C.J.’s been the same throughout the year. I’ve always spoke about his growth throughout the year — from Day 1 to where we are now — but he’s been consistent,” Ryans said in his Monday press conference according to Pro Football Talk. “I think throughout these past — throughout the past month that he’s been back from the injury, he’s just really been very calm. He’s been focused — he’s been laser focused, locked in. He’s been very calm, very confident, and I think everybody feels that around him.”
Stroud notched the first playoff win of his career on Saturday. We’ll have to see if he can recreate some of that magic this week when the Texans take on the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens.
