Is the Dan Snyder era coming to an end in Washington? That seems to be the case.
For months, it’s been apparent that Snyder is looking to sell the Washington Commanders. On Thursday, it was reported that the deal could be done by the end of March.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that both Snyder and his wife, Tanya, “have cleared out of the team’s facility in advance of the sale of the team.”
“We’re also told that, within the building, the word being used regarding a potential sale is ‘imminent,'” Florio said. “Multiple sources said that a sale could be approved and announced as soon as the upcoming league meetings in Arizona.”
The league meetings are scheduled for March 26-29 in Phoenix.
Snyder doesn’t have many allies in the NFL world. To that end, football fans reacted to the news with optimism and excitement. Though in some cases, it was cautious.
It appears Washington football fans will finally rid themselves of their biggest nightmare.
Like my #Bears the (now) Commanders won't have to deal with an owner they can't stand anymore. https://t.co/xt0aTK7hgK

Snyder purchased the franchise in 1999. Since then, Washington has consistently been wrought with front office controversy dealing with the controversial former name of the team and allegations of workplace misconduct. The Commanders have also struggled on the field, winning only two playoff games since Snyder took over and reaching the postseason only six times.
