It only took one sentence on Friday to lead to some wild Dallas Cowboys speculation.

Early Friday, NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported, “QB Dak Prescott and OL Zack Martin restructured their contracts to save roughly $30 million in salary cap space.”

NFL fans immediately seized on that news to begin speculating about what it might mean. Free agency begins next week, and the Cowboys just cleared up a big chunk of space, presumably to pursue someone.

The Cowboys were already over the cap, so the contract work with Prescott and Martin only clears about $14 million in available space. That’s enough to sign a difference-maker, especially if they rework any other existing contracts.

Who are the Cowboys targeting? Speculation ran wild on Twitter.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins seemed the most popular choice, given recent rumors. Others included a potential trade target, Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey is rumored to be a potential trade chip for the Los Angeles Rams, who are facing a significant need to bounce back after a terrible season.
