The Dallas Cowboys got quarterback Dak Prescott back from injury this week but it looks like they might have just lost a cornerback to a new one.
According to ESPN Cowboys insider Todd Archer, cornerback Jourdan Lewis suffered a lisfranc foot injury while recording an interception during the fourth quarter of Dallas’s win over the Detroit Lions. While the injury is pending more tests, Archer says that “Lewis will need surgery.”
Given the kind of injury it sounds like and the need for surgery, that could end up ending Lewis’s 2022 NFL season, which would be a real disappointment for him and the franchise. Lewis is one of the team’s starting corners and has been for a few years now. While Archer speculates that DaRon Bland could move into that spot, for now, it’s going to be big shoes to fill.
While Prescott looked decent in his return on Sunday, the Cowboys are currently 5-2 in large part because of their defense, which is ranked No. 3 in the NFL. Lewis has 23 tackles, a sack, and an interception through seven games and that’s a significant loss if he is indeed done for the year.
Cowboys fans and other NFL folks chimed in with their thoughts on the injury and what it could mean.

The Lisfranc injury continues to be pretty common in football.
For those of you that aren’t football fans, Lewis is 5’10” 195 lbs — has nothing to do with “being skinny” https://t.co/kLnLzn6jDj

Very unfortunate, that means his season is done. That sucks man…. Bland will hold it down in the meantime. https://t.co/Jlp1bge1S3

Ugh. That is a bummer.
Hopefully it's not a season-ending injury. https://t.co/ZdkEjAc5je
