The Dallas Cowboys had to finish last season without their franchise quarterback, Dak Prescott, after he suffered a brutal injury that saw his hamstring partially separated from the bone. Prescott is back at full health heading into the season, but team owner and general manager Jerry Jones wanted extra insurance behind Prescott in case the worst came to pass again.
Jones made a trade with the New England Patriots to acquire young quarterback Joe Milton. Now, in a shocking move, it appears that Milton and not Prescott will be getting his shot in the limelight in the Cowboys’ next preseason game.
“The plan is for Joe Milton to be the Cowboys starting QB again in their preseason game Saturday vs. the Ravens. First-round pick RG Tyler Booker will play against the Ravens after not playing in the preseason opener,” reported The Athletic’s Jon Machota.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“The starting OL should be getting time together, hopefully they arnt just mixing and matching it. Working as a unit seems super important to build cohesive OL play,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“So Dak gonna be extra mid for week 1,” someone else added.
“Excited to see Booker vs the Ravens front,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Milton looks on Saturday.
