The Dallas Cowboys struggled offensively during Sunday night’s season-opening matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including starting quarterback Dak Prescott before he left the game with an injury.
Prescott finished the game 14-for-29 through the air for 139 yards and an interception with no touchdowns. As a team, the Cowboys managed just 244 yards and three points in the team’s 19-3 home loss. Apparently, that was not a strong enough performance for some Cowboys fans.
After suffering a hand injury late in the fourth quarter on Sunday, Prescott left the field early and went back to the locker room. On his way off the field, Cowboys fans gave him a rather cold goodbye, booing and throwing trash at their starting quarterback as he ran through the tunnel.
Obviously, the shocking scene caught the attention of the NFL world, with many condemning the actions of the Cowboys fans in the video.
this is disgusting behaviour. please be better. https://t.co/kOnsspU79d

While most blasted the fans and expressed their sympathy of Prescott, several people also pointed out that this could be karma for Prescott’s comments during a postgame press conference last season when praised fans for throwing trash at referees, saying “credit to them.”
Fans won’t have a chance to throw trash at their quarterback for quite a while as Prescott will not be out “several weeks” with a thumb injury.
