It wasn’t pretty, but it didn’t have to be. Cooper Rush led the Dallas Cowboys in an upset victory over the Cinncinatti Bengals, 20-17.
Rush was elevated from the practice squad just before Week 1 and became the starter following the injury to Dak Prescott. Many thought that the Cowboys’ season was over with Prescott’s injury owner Jerry Jones expressed his belief in Rush, saying that the season wasn’t over. For one week anyway, Jones looks to be right.
Rush wasn’t spectacular but he was efficient in the closing seconds of the game as he marched his team down the field for the game-winning field goal. He was poised and calm in leading the Cowboys.
The Cowboys had at one point a 14-point lead and lead most of the game but the Bengals tied it up in the fourth quarter with a chance to win. But the Dallas defense held the Bengals and Joe Burrow in check in the closing minutes.
Excluding a spike to set up the winning field goal, Rush was perfect on the game’s final drive, completing three pass attempts for 30 yards. His performance was the story of the game.
Obviously frustrating to see how they let the Bengals back in this game, but let’s be real. They just beat the reigning AFC Champions with Cooper Rush at QB and an offense we’d written off after last week. Brilliant win #Cowboys

Cowboy fans are also excited that their team didn’t go 0-2 as many predicted.
