The Indianapolis Colts still don’t know who their starting quarterback will be for Week One of the 2025 season. The Colts’ offseason will be defined by a quarterback competition between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones.

Now, Colts head coach Shane Steichen has made his final decision on what is going to determine who wins the job.

“It’s the most consistent guy…I really do, because at the end of the day you’ve got to be able to move the football consistently up and down the field, and making good decisions. You know what I mean? I mean, at the end of the day you can have splash plays, but if you’re doing that sparingly and up and down – I think it’s got to be on a consistent basis, to get to where we want to go,” Steichen said, according to 32beatwriters.

Fans reacted to the statement on social media.

“If Colts actually start Jones > AR, they are the dumbest football organization,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“It’s pretty crazy how that snake oil salesman Ballard still has a job,” another fan added.

“Anthony Richardson’s new rec specs might make him the most consistent QB in the NFL,” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see what’s next for Richardson if he doesn’t win the job.
