The Indianapolis Colts are in the middle of a quarterback competition between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones. There’s an immense pressure on both players’ shoulders, as the loser may not get another crack at being a starter in the league.
While there’s still plenty of time for things to change, Colts head coach Shane Steichen has decided on who the starter will be heading into the first game of the preseason, according to one prominent league insider.
“A QB update: Colts HC Shane Steichen said Anthony Richardson will start Indianapolis’ first preseason game Thursday vs. the Ravens before Daniel Jones starts their second preseason game vs. the Packers,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Even battle for starter it seems for the colts Feel like the edge is to Daniel Jones based on how the offseason went,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“As a Giants fan, I am really interested to see what DJ does in a more friendly environment. Im not saying his new team is great, but more along the lines of being out of the NY spotlight,” one New York Giants fan added.
“The answer here is pretty obvious. The Colts need to give Richardson regular season reps and see if he can improve and be a quality starter. Jones is a well-known “mid” commodity. He’s a bridge at best,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see who the Week One starter is for the Colts.
