The Cleveland Browns are in the middle of an open quarterback competition this offseason to determine who the franchise’s starting quarterback will be for the 2025 season. Veterans Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco are battling with and against rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

Unfortunately, one of the quarterbacks competing for the job was forced to sit out Saturday’s practice with an injury, according to one prominent league insider.

“Browns QB Shedeur Sanders is being held out of team drills today due to what the team is calling shoulder soreness,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Lmao man hell nahh, Shedeur has never sat out and missed practice due to ‘Shoulder Soreness’ or any other kind of soreness, even over the past two years being the most sacked and hit college QB in the country,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Well it isn’t as though he has to worry about Dillon Gabriel as a threat. He is performing terrible. Sanders has his spot,” someone else added.

“It’s all good, he’ll prove everybody wrong and will be the next Mahomes or Brady or Lamar. Ha! J/k Anybody regret their team not picking Shedeur? Not bloody likely!” one person added.

It’ll be interesting to see when Sanders can return to the field.
