Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud (7) walks off the field after the Buckeyes lost to Georgia in the the Peach Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Syndication The Columbus Dispatch

A few weeks ago, Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud was predicted by most to be the No. 1 overall pick by Carolina Panthers. But after reports of a lackluster performance on the S2 cognitive test, Stroud is now sliding down the draft board in many projections.

The day before the NFL Draft, C.J. Stroud addressed the reports of those brutal test scores, downplaying them.

“I’m not a test taker. I play football,” Stroud said. “At the end of the day, I don’t got anything to prove to nobody. I’m not going to sit here and explain how I process football. The people who are making the picks know what I can do. So that’s all that matters to me.”

Obviously, the first part of that quote – “I’m not a test taker. I play football.” – has gotten quite a bit of traction on social media as people recalled another famous quote from former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Cardale Jones.

Stroud went on to defend himself against claims that he isn’t smart, declaring that he believes he will be “one of the smartest quarterbacks in the NFL.”

“I know I’m one of the smartest quarterbacks in the NFL when I step in there tomorrow,” Stroud said. “I have confidence in myself. I don’t think you can play at Ohio State and not be smart. I don’t got nothing to prove to nobody, man. If you don’t believe in me, all I can say is ‘watch this.'”

We’ll have to see how Stroud does at the next level after all this drama.
