The Cincinnati Bengals are two years removed from the playoffs and are eager to make sure they don’t miss out on postseason play for a third year in a row. A big part of the Bengals’ struggles the last two seasons has been slow starts in the early weeks of the season.

Now, Cincinnati is making a major change to how it manages star quarterback Joe Burrow to ensure that things are running like a well-oiled machine right out of the gate this year, according to one prominent league insider.

“Bengals HC Zac Taylor said QB Joe Burrow will play more this preseason than ever before, as the team looks to start the season faster than in years past,” reported Ari Meirov on Wednesday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“This is a game-changer! Burrow’s 1-9 record in Weeks 1 and 2 highlights the urgency for a stronger start. Remember when Mahomes played full preseason games before thriving? Maybe this is the spark Cincy needs! Can Burrow flip the script this year? Time to find out!” one person wrote on Twitter.

“That’s good news because Burrow has never had a stable training camp, and that’s exactly what the Bengals need, a very good training camp to kick off their season,” added someone else.

“I don’t think Joe is the problem. Maybe fix that defense,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if the change pays dividends for Cincinnat.
