Sports fans love ranking athletes by position, overall skill or era. And America’s top league, the NFL, is always a source of great speculation.
That happened recently on an episode of Fox Sports’ SPEAK, featuring a debate about whether Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow could dethrone Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Joe Burrow as the top quarterback in the league.
Former Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy sent a clear message to Burrow: It’s Mahomes and then everybody else.
“Every other quarterback [other than Mahomes] is playing for 2nd place,” McCoy said.
“It’s Patrick Mahomes and everybody else,” said McCoy. “We gotta put that whole line there. We gotta give him that respect. It’s his league. In the last 5 years, they’ve been in what? Either an AFC game or been to the Super Bowl. Come on, he’s running the show.”
McCoy, however, did concede that Burrow is a “[heck] of a player,” but still can’t be compared to Mahomes due to the difference in résumés.
“The man has two Super Bowls, two MVPs, what are we talking about?” asked McCoy, who pointed out that Mahomes dominated the league last year despite losing No. 1 wideout Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins during the previous offseason.
