Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and tight end Travis Kelce created headlines throughout the NFL last month by engaging in the off-season trash talk expected of budding rivalries.
The ironic thing is it started with Burrow anointing Mahomes as the best quarterback in the NFL.
Chase, however, wasn’t so sure. “Pat who?” he asked reporters.
Mahomes responded with a picture of him wearing two Super Bowl rings, while Kelce advised Chase to pick another target.
Burrow, in an interview with Complex, gave the perfect response to the Chiefs’ round of trash talk.
“The best thing about that is it’s all settled on the field,” Burrow told the magazine. “So we’ll see them in December.”
Burrow also spoke on how the Bengals will try to reach the AFC Championship game for the third season in a row and hopefully win the first Super Bowl in franchise history.
“Keep doing exactly what we’re doing,” Burrow said. “I think we’ve put a great plan together the last couple of years, now we just have to finish it off.”
Whether the Bengals can achieve their recent heights once again remains to be seen. They open their season on the road against their AFC North rivals, the Cleveland Browns, on Sept. 10.
