Consistency among your coaching staff is key when you’re building a successful and dominant NFL franchise, and heading into next season the Cincinnati Bengals will have more consistency on its coaching staff than any other team in the league.
As NFL reporter and analyst Jay Morrison of The Athletic points out, with the departure of longtime Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to the Washington Commanders, the Bengals will be the only team with a consistent coaching staff for the past five years.
“If it happens, the #Bengals become the only team in the league with a head coach, offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator in the same roles for at least 5 seasons,” Morrison said on Twitter.
Head coach Zac Taylor, defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, and offensive coordinator Brian Callahan have all been with the Cincinnati Bengals since before the 2019 season and will now head into their fifth season together. Even though Anarumo appeared to be a finalist for the Arizona Cardinals head coaching job and Callahan interviewed for the Indianapolis Colts and the Cardinals, both coordinators are returning next season, much to the delight of the team’s players.
Such consistency certainly bodes well for the Bengals as they head into next season.
