The Pittsburgh Steelers have had arguably the busiest offseason in the NFL to this point. The Steelers shipped off two stars, one on each side of the ball, in George Pickens and Minkah Fitzpatrick.
However, the Steelers have brought in a haul of big-name players to replace them. The list of new Steelers includes Jalen Ramsey, DK Metcalf, and Jonnu Smith. Oh, and four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers.
Many fans and pundits felt that Rodgers wouldn’t be a good fit in the Steel City, thinking that the former Super Bowl champion was too “Hollywood” for a blue-collar town like Pittsburgh.
Now, one of the most respected members of the organization is giving his unfiltered thoughts on Rodgers since his signing.
“It just felt like he has bought in, and it worked out for the best,” defensive tackle Cam Heyward said on “The Rich Eisen Show”. “I know sometimes we live in a society where we want things now. But patience has a way of paying off.
“And to now see he’s a Pittsburgh Steelers and just him walking through the locker room asking questions how we do things. He’s bought in and that’s all I can ask for our quarterback. As a teammate, I’m excited to go work with him.”
Fans reacted to Heyward’s words on social media.
“Bought in? Jets was a fiasco, he can’t go out like that. Steelers is only a few team that wanted him. He wanted to be a Viking,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I think its the fans that have to buy in first lol,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Heyward feels about Rodgers once the Steelers face real adversity during the season.
