The Chicago Bears are looking to turn things around after a massively disappointing 2024 season. The Bears have brought in former Detroit Lions head coach Ben Johsnson in the hopes that the offensive mastermind can unlock young quarterback Caleb Williams the same way he did with Jared Goff in Detroit.
Ultimately, though, Williams’ career arc is going to come down to whether he can execute himself. After an abysmal 2024 season, you may think that Williams would be humble heading into 2025.
Instead, he has a shocking message for the rest of the league.
“I think the NFL game has become very friendly, and I don’t necessarily want to be friends, because I want to keep that competitive advantage,” Williams said, according to Pro Football Talk.
Fans reacted to Williams’s words on social media.
“This is the same excuse I told myself when I ate lunch alone during my freshman year of high school,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Bears fans crawl out from their caves if you clown their QB that’s more about manicures than manning up,” one fan added.
“Before anyone complains.. Lamar is the same way. He has said repeatedly that he respects the other players and wishes them all the best, but he isn’t friends with any of them,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Williams fares in his sophomore campaign.
