The Chicago Bears currently have the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. If they decide to hold onto that pick, most expect the team to ultimately use it to select former USC Trojans Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams. If that happens, it sounds like Williams would be happy.
During a recent interview with Pete Thamel of ESPN, Caleb Williams made it clear that if he is selected by the Chicago Bears in the upcoming draft, he would be “excited.”
“If I get drafted by the Bears, I’ll be excited,” Williams told Pete Thamel of ESPN. “If they trade the pick, and I get drafted by someone else, I’m just as excited. Speaking about Chicago, they have a talented team, a talented offense and defense. For anyone to be in that situation, I think they’d be excited.”
Williams also insisted that despite some rumors and speculation, he is not pushing to play anywhere and will simply be excited to play wherever he is selected – including Chicago.
“At the end of the day, the Bears have the last say,” Williams said. “Regardless of how I feel, I’m not pushing an agenda of, ‘Yeah, I want to go. Or no, I don’t want to go.’ I’m excited for whatever comes.”
Williams will be meeting with teams at the 2024 NFL Combine, but he will not be participating in any drills.
