The Detroit Lions are looking to stay healthier than last season, when the end of their season was completely derailed by injuries on the defensive side of the ball, culminating in a loss to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Now, it’s going to be more important than ever for the Lions to stay healthy, as they just lost a critical depth piece from last season in the sport’s most important position, according to one prominent league insider.

“Veteran QB Teddy Bridgewater is visiting Tampa today, and is expected to sign with the Buccaneers, per sources. The Buccaneers will be Bridgewater’s 8th NFL team, and his third NFC South team to go along with the Saints and Panthers,” ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday, before following up with more details.

“Tampa needed another quarterback because Buccaneers QB Michael Pratt has been dealing with a back injury. Plus, Bridgewater always has been widely respected and a player others want on their roster. Now Tampa adds QB help and another leader.”

Fans reacted to the signing on social media.

“I was hoping he was coming back to the Lions again because what we have now is trash at backup,” one Lions fan wrote on Twitter.

“Bridgewater pulling up like the nfl’s favorite substitute teacher ready to keep the class in order and throw a few dimes,” someone else added.

“The guy’s unretired more times than Elton John and Cher combined,” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Detroit ends up regretting not bringing Bridgewater back.
