The Cleveland Browns still don’t know who the starting quarterback will be for the 2025 season, but due to injuries and rest, rookie Shedeur Sanders has been tabbed as the starter for the team’s first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.
Now, face-of-the-franchise Myles Garrett is giving his unfiltered opinion of the young quarterback.
“I mean, he’s funny, he’s optimistic, lighthearted, but he works hard,” Garrett told reporters, via NBC’s ProFootballTalk. “He takes it seriously, his craft and he’s watching what the others are doing and doing it his own way, in which only he can. So, looking forward to see him on these preseason games and how he manages the offense. But I think he looks good, but all the guys look good right now.”
Garret also shared that Sanders has been picking his brain.
“[H]e’s definitely coming to me a couple times to see what I’m thinking [when] I’m going through my rush or what the defense’s mentality is.”
Fans reacted to Garret’s words on social media.
“Like we are supposed to care what he thinks, Mr I wany a Super Bowl but stays in Cleveland for a pay check,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“(Publicly), that is what a leader would say no matter who they were asked about,” another fan added.
“When your own All-Pro pass rusher says the rookie QB is coming to him for defensive intel, that tells you everything about Sanders’ football IQ. Kid’s not just preparing for Friday – he’s studying the game from every angle. That’s championship mindset,” another person wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanders can open the regular season as the Browns’ starter.
