The Cleveland Browns are 2-5 and mired in a season that probably won’t improve much, even after quarterback Deshaun Watson returns from his suspension. Given how much that star running back Kareem Hunt has made it clear that he wants either a new contract or trade, the franchise might be inclined to give him the latter soon enough.
According to Brad Stainbrook of the Orange and Brown Report, the Browns are now listening to trade offers on Hunt.
That’s especially notable news as the New York Jets find themselves without their star running back for the rest of the season. They announced Monday that Breece Hall had torn his ACL, which was devastating news as they’re 5-2 and in the thick of the playoff hunt. New York might decide to push their chips into the middle of the table and trade for Hunt in order to remain competitive with the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins in the competitive AFC East.
In his sixth NFL season, Hunt has 263 yards on 66 carries with three rushing touchdowns as well as 15 receptions for 87 yards and one score. In 2020, he garnered 841 rushing yards and 11 overall touchdowns in his best season with the Browns. He also spent two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs beforehand.
