As the NFL owners gather to approve the sale of the Denver Broncos to the Walton family, the same family that owns Walmart, the team announced another minority owner.
On Tuesday, the team announced that seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has been added to the ownership group.
The team made the announcement Tuesday.
“We’re delighted to welcome seven-time Formula One World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton to our ownership group,” Rob Walton said in a release. “He is a champion competitor who knows what it takes to lead a winning team.”
Hamilton joins former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as a minority owner. Rice’s announcement took place last month.
Hamilton seems to be thrilled to be part of the Broncos ownership team. He spoke about that on Twitter:
“Excited to join an incredible group of owners and become a part of the @Broncos story!! Honoured to work with a world-class team and serve as an example of the value of more diverse leadership across all sports.”
