With the surprise firing of Brian Flores, the Miami Dolphins are looking for a new head coach.
As is tradition over the past few years, Jim Harbaugh has been a hot topic now that there are multiple NFL coaching vacancies. Even though he seemingly indicated that he was staying at Michigan, Harbaugh reportedly told a potential Michigan recruit that he will “entertain” conversations with NFL teams. Add Jay Glazer’s report that Harbaugh was “calling around” to see who would be interested in joining his staff if he went to the NFL, and the rumor mill will be filled with “Jim Harbaugh to (insert NFL team) rumors” until he either accepts a job or all the vacancies have been filled.
Team owner Stephen Ross said that he’s “not going to be the person to take Jim Harbaugh from the University of Michigan” and multiple reporters including ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, Palm Beach Post’s Joe Schad, and MMQB’s Albert Breer have said that the Dolphins are not going after Harbaugh and that Flores’ firing was unrelated.
Nevertheless, due to Ross’ connections as a Michigan alum and donor, as well as the apparent surprise of him firing Flores, it’s led to people’s minds racing to imagine Harbaugh coaching in Miami even though Ross himself said it’s not happening.
So last week Jim Harbaugh talks about maybe coaching in the NFL.
Miami owner Stephen Ross is tight with Harbaugh. And now Flores is suddenly fired. And no reporter mentioned this alleged power struggle all season. Hmmm…
Did Ross get Harbaugh to come to miam?
