Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool appears to be on his way out of the organization. And general manager Ryan Poles all but confirmed exactly that during a press conference on Thursday.
Claypool voiced his frustration with the organization earlier this month, stating that the team was not using him correctly. Following these comments, Claypool was a healthy inactive for Chicago’s Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos.
Things haven’t gotten better between Claypool and the organization heading into Week 5. He has been away from the team, and to nobody’s surprise, was listed a healthy inactive for the game on Thursday night against the Washington Commanders.
It’s obvious that this situation is not getting any better. And Ryan Poles detailed as much on Thursday, wishing Claypool “luck” throughout his career.
“I always look at things from a player’s perspective,” Poles said via ESPN’s Courtney Cronin. “You have a player going into his free agent year, who wants to be productive and help us, and when things aren’t going the right way, sometimes you get emotional. Things don’t work out and you struggle to blend in and keep resilient and stay resilient with the rest of the crew. I think Chase is going to learn from this situation, we all will, and I wish him luck moving forward throughout his career.”
Wishing him the “best of luck” in his career is obviously heavily indicating him officially being released in the near future. And it doesn’t exactly come as a shock considering his lack of production since joining the Bears.
In ten games played between 2022 and 2023 for Chicago, Claypool has recorded just 191 receiving yards, an average of just 19.1 receiving yards per game in a Bears uniform.
