The Chicago Bears selected tight end Colston Loveland out of the University of Michigan in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. Loveland recently hosted his first football camp for kids, but was unable to participate fully.

Loveland has spent much of the offseason recovering from surgery to repair the AC joint in his shoulder. Unfortunately, Loveland revealed that he isn’t sure exactly how his rehab is going and won’t know until training camp.

“It’s been good. There haven’t really been live bullets flying yet,” Loveland said, according to Pro Football Talk. “We’ll really know in camp once I get out there, doing a lot more stuff.”

Fasn reacted to the brutal news on social media.

“Draft a TE that looks more like a WR and this what happens,” one fan wrote on Twitter, noting how Loveland excelled as a receiving threat in his days as a Michigan Wolverine, but wasn’t exactly known for his blocking prowess.

“This sounds like he may start camp limited, but he can be brought along slowly with Kmet here,” another fan added, referencing another, more experienced tight end on the Bears’ roster.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Bears’ plan for Loveland is if his recovery is not where the franchise was expecting by the time training camp rolls around.
