The NFL world was saddened to learn Wednesday that Pittsburgh Steelers legend and Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris had passed away at the age of 72.
Many tributes poured in during the day, including from some of his teammates. Former President Barack Obama also shared his appreciation for Harris, who won four Super Bowls and made nine Pro Bowls during his 13-year career, and what he meant to the NFL.
“I grew up watching Franco Harris and had the honor of getting to know him years later. He was an extraordinary man on and off the field and will be missed. Our thoughts go out to his family and all of Steeler Nation,” Obama tweeted.
