The Baltimore Ravens turned heads throughout the NFL earlier this offseason when they signed veteran free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
Beckham Jr. is coming off a knee injury suffered in a Super Bowl win with the Los Angeles Rams, and while there’s still a way to go until the regular season, the early returns from teammates are positive.
“I feel like our chemistry, it’s there,” quarterback Lamar Jackson told Clifton Brown of the Ravens’ official team site after Tuesday’s practice. “And he’s a lot faster than people give him credit for. A lot faster.”
Veteran cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who guards Beckham Jr. in practice, concurred.
“Whatever this means, he said, ‘I’m not going to do to you what I’d do to guys in the game,'” Humphrey said. “He’s done some kind of bad stuff to me, actually, so that’s a good thing — that there’s more in the tank.
“I think that connection’s going to be sweet. I’m really excited for those two guys to make some big things happen.”
If Beckham Jr. can retain his old form with the Ravens, that will go a long way to helping them return to the playoffs this season in what should be a tough AFC North Division.
