During Sunday afternoon’s game against the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield suffered a bit of an ankle injury that will undoubtedly bother him a bit as he prepares for this week’s Wild Card round showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles. But he will get an extra day of rest, and it sounds like he’s happy about that.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers don’t play until Monday while most other playoff games are over the weekend – some as early as Saturday. And in his press conference this week, Mayfield expressed relief that he has some extra time to recover from his injury thanks to this NFL schedule.
“Got a little ankle injury pretty early in the game,” Mayfield said in a video shared by Sara Walsh of NFL Media. “One of those things, as the week goes on feel better and better. Good rehab work done on it, see how it goes. Luckily, the blessing is we play on Monday night. An extra day or rest and recovery for me.”
The Buccaneers are currently considered 3-point underdogs to the Philadelphia Eagles in the playoff showdown.
We’ll have to see whether or not Mayfield and Tampa Bay can beat the odds and come away with a victory.
