The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Arizona Cardinals, 38-10, in humiliating fashion earlier this week on Monday Night Football in Mexico City.
The loss wasn’t the only one accrued by Cardinals offensive line and running game coordinator Sean Kugler, who was fired by the franchise after he “groped a woman over the weekend.”
ESPN first reported the news.
Mexican authorities were notified about the Sunday night assault. The police then informed the Cardinals, who fired Kugler and sent him back to Arizona before the game was even played, ESPN revealed.
This is the second embarrassing off-the-field incident for former Cardinals assistant coaches. James Saxon, then-running backs coach, turned himself in on charges he assaulted a woman in her home in Indiana. He is currently serving one year of probation with a one-year suspended jail sentence hanging over his head.
Saxon resigned when his arrest became public in August.
Kugler began his coaching career as the offensive line and defensive line coach at Tampa Bay Tech High School in 1990. He worked his way up through the high school and collegiate rankings before taking a job with the Detroit Lions in 2001 as the tight ends coach.
He joined the Cardinals in 2019 as an offensive line coach. He was promoted to offensive line coach and run game coordinator in 2021.
