NFL players. They may be among the best athletes on the planet, but they’re just like you and me. They cook, clean, and take care of their mundane tasks like every other average joe.
For Arizona Cardinals CB Antonio Hamilton, one of those daily chores turned into a scary incident that will cost him a few games at the beginning of the season.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Hamilton will miss the first four games of the season after suffering burns to his legs and feet due to a cooking accident that took place at his home.
Hamilton tweeted that his feet were “severely burned (2nd degree)” in the “freak accident,” and he included a photo of the burns.
Arizona reporter John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM (Phoenix) added that Hamilton burned himself after spilling hot oil on himself, noting that his injuries are similar to the ones Antonio Brown suffered to his feet after he didn’t wear any shoes during a cryochamber therapy session.
Fans across social media had a ton of reactions to the freak accident.
After beginning on the Arizona practice squad in 2021, Hamilton was eventually promoted to the 53-man roster in September, where he had a good enough season to re-sign with the team in the offseason.
Hamilton, who was undrafted out of South Carolina State, was slated as a starter this season prior to his unfortunate accident.
