Antonio Brown thrust himself back in the NFL news cycle Friday.
Although no one knows what to make of a tweet from Brown’s verified @AB84 Twitter account.
Brown’s tweet had one sentence: “Excited to return to the NFL this year #RavensFlock.” It also included a photo of Brown wearing a Baltimore Ravens jersey with his trademark No. 84.
Some people might see the tweet and conclude that Brown and the Ravens have reached a deal for him to play next season. After all, the Ravens need wide receivers to help quarterback Lamar Jackson earn his massive new contract.
But a reasonable person would look at that and think, wait a minute: Brown is 34 and walked away from the NFL in the middle of a game last year. Since then he’s been involved in an unpaid child support issue, made a sexually explicit social media post, thrown former teammates under the bus, etc.
In short, Brown carries more baggage than an airport bag handler. Any team would need to be desperate to bring Brown back for another NFL stint.
Twitter quickly shot down Brown’s faux news. Nic Mason’s tweet spoke for many.
“The Baltimore Ravens and Antonio Brown have come to an agreement. … They’ve agreed it’s not happening,” Mason tweeted.
