Over the past several seasons, former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown has been involved in his fair share of controversial incidents where he’s been objectively in the wrong, but that does not appear to be the case during a recent altercation with a security guard.
Last month, Antonio Brown joined the ownership group for the Albany Empire, an indoor football team based in Albany, New York that plays in the National Arena League. The team opened its season this weekend, and Brown decided to take the opportunity before the game to meet some young fans who were hanging out near the end zone. That’s when he got into an altercation with a security guard.
In a video shared by Brown on social media, a security guard can be seen approaching Brown and the person filming the video, telling them that they “need to get off the field right now.” The person filming can be heard informing the security guard that Brown owns the team, but the security guard refuses to believe it, saying “No he doesn’t.”
Brown protested, telling the security guard “This is my field. I’m the owner.” The security guard then replies “I don’t think so.”
Brown shared a video of the altercation on Twitter, saying that he “maintained a level of professionalism and positivity” throughout the encounter.
“Still I maintained a level of professionalism positivity while dealing with this security today ! First Game AS AN Owner #StayEncouraged,” Brown said in a tweet.
The video has since gone viral on social media with plenty of people giving their responses to the incident.
I imagine these guys are just venue security employed by the arena, but even so, part of your job is knowing who the VIP's are. You would think somebody would have gotten in their ear and intervened before they dug their own grave.
I wonder if they apologized to him later. https://t.co/QtrWKb57im

How do you work in the industry and not know who AB is? https://t.co/dWOGouJXLj

Can't you just fire them? https://t.co/2qOtF2ZVZf

It’s not clear if the security guard ever acknowledged that Brown was the owner of the team.
