Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown was known for controversy on and off the field throughout his playing career. It’s been no different since he left the NFL, either.
Brown is in hot water again this week as a judge in Florida issued an arrest warrant for the former Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star over $33,000 in unpaid child support.
Brown, who owns the Albany Empire of the National Arena League, claims to have paid what he owes his ex. He spoke to 6 News Albany sports director A.J. Pankowski about the fiasco.
“Yeah well first off, anytime you say a guy own a team, there’s going to be some garnish in the wages. But let’s get this clear, I paid my bills, I’m a professional. It’s about running the Empire and running the business,” Brown said. “We don’t need negativity on my name, it’s bigger than me.”
Brown posted a receipt of payment for $33,000 on his Instagram Stories, though at this time it’s unclear if it was a payment for the child support.
The warrant against Brown would be squashed if he indeed paid off his debts.
The judge has yet to comment on the alleged payment.
